An all day (or half day) interactive presentation on the late Colonial period

1750-1783

Period One:  a fur trader details the prelude to the French and Indian War.  This includes a live, outdoor musket firing, hands-on Native American, Scottish, English and Colonial Artifacts, various animal pelts, time-line and drawings/prints of the significant persons discussed.

Period Two: a plantation owner explains some of the events leading to the Revolutionary War.  This includes a discussion of the many industries of the east coast (printing, wig making, tobacco, etc.), currency, the customs of the privileged classes, slavery, taxes and a time-line of pertinent events.  Tobacco will be presented in various forms.

Period Three:  a Revolutionary War soldier explores a few of the events of the War and the role of the French allies at the Battle of Yorktown.  This includes an analysis of military tactics (including the teaching of actual marching drills), medicine, Indiana's involvement in the War, some children's games of the period, a brief description of the final American battle at Yorktown, a time-line and currency/monies used at the time.
